Drop in for Jacobsen designs

Dún Laoghaire-based Lost Weekend (01-2140711 lostweekend.ie) is holding a summer stock sale, with all items less 20 per cent, including a selection of Drop chairs, first designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the interior of the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Copenhagen and reissued for the first time late last year. You can purchase floor model seats in black, sand, yellow, stone grey, storm blue and fire red, normally €323, for €258 each.

Lost Weekend is also offering Irish Times readers 10 per cent off orders of these chairs, which will cost €292 each during the sale which starts next Monday and runs until Monday, August 20th.

Launched this year, the Me collection designed by Philippe Starck for Duravit (duravit.co.uk) includes this extravagant Cape Cod freestanding stone composite bath, 185.5cm by 88.5cm which normally costs €3,825. Home designs that won’t be gathering dust

The summer sale at Dust Interiors (dust.ie 086-3976053), 4 Camden Market, Dublin 8, is now on. Reduced items include these streamlined-looking bell jars, down 20 per cent from €28.50 to €22.80. Other wise buys include personality-laden cushions reduced from €49 to €39 and a black and glass floor model drinks trolley, down 40 per cent from €159 to €89.

Hidden upstairs is a small but bright back room blooming with faux flowers. Peach blossom stems are down from €23 to €18.40 while rhododendron sprays that were €20 are now €16 each.

Cafe table

Originally produced for France’s Theatre National Populaire, the TNP, this classic outdoor cast-iron cafe table still bears the embossed logo of one of France’s most celebrated theatres. Now made by Italian company Kristalia, it comes in red, white or black, the Theatre National’s colours.

The lacquered-steel tabletop works outdoors or inside and is available in three sizes: 50cm by 70cm by 75cm; a larger format, 70cm by 70cm; and what the company calls "poseur height", a table 70cm by 50cm by 100cm that you stand at. It is normally €829, but Baldoyle-based Lomi Design (01-8397001 lomi.ie) is offering Irish Times readers who present today's column the chance to buy it for €746, a reduction of 10 per cent.

Three of the best . . . flamingoes

Tropical kitsch is the way to decorate your garden or outdoor space this summer. A pair of two brightly coloured pronged-legged flamingos, 40 cm by 36 cm by 8.5 cm, cost about €42.50 for the pair from UK-based The Contemporary Home (0044-845-1308229 tch.net).

This 3mm thick lacquered Wanddeko wall flamingo will look good on a sheltered patio or balcony wall and will also bring a whimsical ray of sunshine to the indoors. It is reduced from €29.90 to €24.90 on German-based Design3000 (0049-6062-9187220 design3000.de).

Vincent Lam is a Dublin-based model maker who has worked on prosthetics and costumes for film and television including the TV series Vikings and Penny Dreadful. He is a recent graduate of IADT in Dún Laoghaire. This Tyrannosaurus Rex head is one of his first designs for the home.
