Two well-made, easy-drinking French wines for €10 or less

John Wilson’s Wines for the Weekend: A pair of good-value bottles from SuperValu’s sale

Just about all of the multiples seem to run a French wine sale at this time of year, and SuperValu is no exception. If you feel like splurging this weekend, in addition to the wines below, I enjoyed the smooth, elegant Lady de Mour Margaux 2016 (€20, down from €34.99).

La Petite Perrière Sauvignon Blanc 2018 Vin de France, €9 (down from €11.99 until September 26th)
Enticing fresh aromas with mouth-watering gooseberries, green fruits and zesty, fresh grapefruit. This is a well-made, well-priced Sauvignon Blanc. Drink it solo or with lighter salads and prawn dishes.

Alma Cersius Coteaux de Béziers Rouge 2017, €10 (down from €14.99 until September 26th)
Soft, ripe, easy-drinking raspberries and blackcurrants with a nicely rounded finish. This is perfect for everyday drinking, with or without food. Try it with bangers and mash.
