Ladies Gaelic football coaches from Ireland inspired the San Diego GAA during a recent All Stars visit to southern California.

Former Miami Dolphin Roberto Wallace, who is from San Diego, spoke to the All Stars after their exhibition game, while the LGFA (Ladies Gaelic Football Association) coaches took sessions with local players at youth and adult level.

“The coaches taught us everything very well,” says youth player Máire Glenane, who plays the game because “it’s fun”.

Adult player Ali Freedman from San Diego na Fianna says the visit will have a long-term effect on the team.

“We are really inspired, this is continuing to bolster the spirit of what Gaelic games can do here in San Diego.”

Armagh and Cork players also showcased the game to 400 students at the Mar Vista High School by explaining the rules, exhibiting the basic skills and playing a match. In this second video, three students who have never played GAA before give their thoughts on ladies football, while Cork All Star Annie Walsh is delighted to have made an impact.
