Is this Irish granola bar the best around?

Shelf Help: These Irish-made snack bars are gluten and wheat free, and suitable for vegetarians, coeliacs and those who are gluten intolerant

What is it? The Foods of Athenry Irish Oat Fully Loaded Granola Bar (RRP €2.45/55g).

What’s good about it? These Irish-made snack bars are gluten and wheat free, and suitable for vegetarians, coeliacs and those who are gluten intolerant. They’re a chunky, filling snack, perfect to have in a handbag, backpack or stashed in the car as an on-the-go hunger buster. They are nicely spiced, with a touch of cinnamon, and dark chocolate chips, coconut, cranberries and raisins are in the mix, too.

Who makes it? They are made by the Lawless family, led by mum Siobhán, at their family farm in Athenry, Co Galway. In 2004, the family sold their dairy herd and set up a bakery in the then empty milking parlour. Siobhan’s grandparents ran one of the biggest bakeries in the west of Ireland, and the skills have passed to her. “There is tradition in my fingertips and the magic in my hands,” she says.

How do I use it? They’re ready to crack open, any time hunger strikes.
