RETRO
Retro Revival Indie Club
Sweeney's Bar, Dublin 9pm €5
It’s a hand-clapping welcome back for the Retro Revival Indie Club as it showcases a range of acts that are relatively familiar (Cave Ghosts, September Girls, Skelocrats) and a couple of recent arrivals (including The Pacifics and surf-pop/rockers Shrug Life).
BASS
Low Steppa
Button Factory, Dublin 11pm €10

Will Bailey's bass-heavy approach to house and garage has stood him in good stead. The Simma Black label boss from Birmingham has seen pundits go nuts over tracks My Feelings and Listen Up, and remixes for Route 94 (his take on My Love was a beaut). Bailey's Rinse FM show is a great guide to the current boom tunes from the bass side of the house, while his sound is also finding favour Stateside.
TECHNO
Dustin Zahn
The Hangar, Dublin 10.30pm €15/€10
soundcloud.com/dustin-zahn
Zahn has been around the block and has the track record to show for it. The Minneapolis native made his mark with powerful, dark, hypnotic releases on his own Abiotic and Enemy labels, as well as his Monoliths debut album last year for techno imprimatur of choice Drumcode. Zahn is based in Berlin these days, and his raw, uncompromising, hardcore industrial sound should be a good fit for rooms like this.
JAZZ
Foluain Trio
Wellington, Dublin 8.30pm €7/ €5
matthewjacobsonmusic.com
Drummer Matthew Jacobson is the rhythmic force behind some of the most interesting jazz groups on the current Irish scene, including his own intrepid RediVideR quartet and Chris Guilfoyle’s Umbra, star turns at the recent 12 Points Festival. Here, Foluain is Jacobson in an explorative trio with bassist Neil O’Loghlen and visiting French saxophonist Jonathan Orland.
