Fine china manufacturer Royal Doulton warned yesterday it was facing a sales shortfall of up to £12 million sterling following major glitches with a new software system.

The company had installed the new system to ensure it could cope with the millennium bug. But it resulted in delivery problems to customers of about 10 weeks.
