Profits at company founded in 1920 by the Hogan family in Co Offaly halved last year

Irish catering and hospitality service provider KSG Catering, which is part owned by Irish listed company DCC, has won a contract to operate two of Microsoft UK's London centres.

The UK offices located at Thames Valley Park, Reading and Kingdom Street, Paddington, are home to about 3,000 personnel. The catering and hospitality contract is for a five-year period with services beginning in late March.

The company declined to disclose the value of the contract when contacted by The Irish Times.

KSG currently provides services at the €135 million One Microsoft Place Campus in Leopardstown, Co Dublin, which opened in February 2018.

KSG was founded in 1920 by the Hogan family in Birr, Co Offaly. Its parent, KSG Dining, is owned by DCC Group, the Hogan family and chief executive Michael Gleeson. DCC rejected an offer of €6.54 million from the Hogans for its 50 per cent stake in 2015.

Profits at KSG for the year ended March 31st, 2018, fell by more than half from €1.35 million the year before to just €600,000, according to the latest documents filed with the companies office. A dividend of €1.5 million was paid to shareholders, half the level of a year before.

Turnover increased by 2.5 per cent to €61.4 million during the year. A breakdown of its turnover by geographical region shows its UK operations made up just a fraction of the overall figure at €333,000.

KSG employs 1,150 people in 110 locations around the Republic. In addition to its contract services, it also operates a 3,500sq ft City & Guilds accredited culinary training academy in Dublin.
