Irish Multichannel has confirmed its acquisition of Suir Nore Relays, bringing its customer base to 250,000. No figure was disclosed but it is believed to have paid around £15 million (€19 million) for the company.

Suir Nore, which has 20,000 subscribers, provides cable services in Kilkenny, Clonmel, Thurles, Cashel and Tipperary. It also has MMDS licences in Kilkenny, Tipperary, Carlow, South Laois and South Offaly.

Irish Multichannel is owned by Princes Holdings, which in turn is owned by Independent News & Media and a US-based cable group. It is the second largest cable group in the State and last year bought out Cable Management Ireland (CMI).
