POLAND yesterday withdrew from circulation its old banknotes denominated in thousands and millions of zlotys, ending a two year transition to a manageable currency from one ravaged by past inflation. On the first day of 1995 the country launched its so called denominacja or redenomination, lopping four zeroes off the zloty so that 10,000 old zlotys became worth one new zloty.
