Carlsberg to market Beamish stout in US

Beamish & Crawford has signed an agreement for the distribution of its stout in the US by Carlsberg USA

Beamish & Crawford has signed an agreement for the distribution of its stout in the US by Carlsberg USA. The stout is already available in the US but not at the level which the new agreement will bring about.

Carlsberg USA is to provide marketing support for the Beamish brand with a range of trade-focused promotional activities.

It believes that Beamish stout's underlying strength will be its presence in Irish and English pubs across the US.

It will be initially available in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Denver.

"We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Carlsberg USA," said Alf Smiddy, managing director of Beamish & Crawford.

"This is an exciting development for us. Beamish is a unique stout in that it is the only major stout brand that is brewed exclusively in one brewery in Ireland," said Mike Mitaro, president of Carlsberg USA.

"This is a proposition that American consumers will warm to. We are delighted that Beamish stout is now in our portfolio and we look forward to building it into a great Irish stout brand across the US market."

Beamish & Crawford, a subsidiary of Scottish & Newcastle, is the oldest brewery in Ireland, with a portfolio of brands including Beamish Genuine Irish Stout, Beamish Red Irish Ale, Miller Genuine Draft, Foster's, Kronenbourg and Carling lagers.
