Rory Allen, Tottenham's 18 year old forward, is likely to become the newest target, for the Republic of Ireland manager, Mick McCarthy. Allen, who scored in Tottenham's 2-1 defeat by Newcastle United at the weekend, qualifies for both the Republic and Northern Ireland under the ancestory rule.

The FAI is hopeful that the player will pledge his allegiance to Republic in time to make him eligible for the start of the European under 21 championship next month.
