All 64 places have been taken for the popular Team Matchplay event, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, which runs from July 4th to 10th at Hermitage. As in previous years, the title will be contested using the Barton Shield format with teams made up of two foursomes pairings. The aggregate result when both matches have completed 18 holes determines the winner, with the second match playing tie holes if necessary.

The event usually throws up some gripping tussles. A Malahide combination, captained by Jim Lillis, defends the title.
