Tottenham Hotspur's Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly has been given a three-game suspension after the FA rejected the club's appeal over his red card against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
Blackburn also had their appeal over a red card for Tugay rejected by an independent disciplinary commission hearing and the Turkish midfielder will serve a one-match ban.
Tugay was shown a red card after clipping Ghaly's heels to concede a second-half penalty which was converted by Tottenham's Jermain Defoe. Tugay had volleyed Rovers in front in the first half at Ewood Park.
The match ended in controversial circumstances when Ghaly appeared to jump with his arm raised in an aerial challenge with Blackburn defender Michael Gray, leading to referee Phil Dowd showing him a straight red card for violent conduct.
Both Tottenham manager Martin Jol and his Blackburn counterpart Mark Hughes were critical of Dowd's decisions after the game, which ended 1-1.
