No fresh injury concerns for Joe Schmidt after Scotland

Joe Schmidt's squad emerged from Saturday's game against Scotland with no injury concerns and with a week's rest before facing Wales in their return test match against the Principality in Dublin on August 29th.

In a brief update, the IRFU issued a statement, saying that no other players have had to go to sick bay following the 28-22 win last weekend against Vern Cotter’s side.

"There are no injuries to report from Saturday's Test against Scotland. The Ireland Squad will reassemble on Sunday 23rd August," said the IRFU statement.

There is some positive news emanating from camp regarding Ulster and Ireland winger Andrew Trimble, who injured his foot in the first game of the pre-World Cup series against Wales in Cardiff.

Trimble, who had a scan on the injury last week, is said to be optimistic about the progress of his rehab. No time limit has been put on his return but news is positive.

Following the best season of his career, Trimble missed most of last season with a toe problem. The winger then limped off with a similar complaint during the first half of Ireland’s win over Wales.

Although a first scan came back inconclusive, a second established that he had bruised the bone and would not be out for the long term.

Tighthead prop Marty Moore and loosehead prop Cian Healy remain sidelined. Healy has had neck surgery and remains on the wait and see list with Moore said to be recovering well enough from his shoulder surgery to be considered for this week's provincial friendly between Ulster and Leinster in Belfast.
