Cian Healy cited for making contact with head of Exeter hooker

Leinster prop Cian Healy has been cited for appearing to make contact with the head of an opponent during Leinster's Champions Cup win over Exeter on Saturday last.

Healy was shown a yellow card following the incident by match referee, Pascal Gauzère (France). In a statement released by the ECC on Tuesday it was explained that he “is alleged to have charged into a ruck and to have struck the head of the Exeter Chiefs hooker, Luke Cowan-Dickie, with his forearm in the 17th minute of the match in contravention of Law 10.4 (h).”

Law 10.4 (h) refers to charging into a ruck or maul and under World Rugby’s sanctions for foul play it carries a suspension of two weeks (low end) to 10-52 weeks (high end).

The complaint was made by the match Citing Commissioner, Patrice Frantschi (France).

Gareth Graham (England), Chairman, Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and Leon Lloyd (England) have been appointed as the independent Disciplinary Committee for the hearing which will take place in London on Wednesday.

Leinster take on Munster in the Pro14 on St Stephen's day, while their European campaign resumes at home against Glasgow on the weekend of January 12th.

Meanwhile Leicester Tigers centre Manu Tuilagi - on his long awaited return from injury - has also been cited for an alleged dangerous tackle on Munster's Chris Cloete during his team's defeat on Sunday.
