RACING COURSE CONDITIONS:THE FAIRYHOUSE authorities admitted yesterday they are less than confident about running their rescheduled Grade Two fixture tomorrow after having to cancel yesterday's card due to snow.

Two inches of snow fell on the Ratoath course, and after two morning inspections the decision was taken to cancel and re-schedule to tomorrow.

However, hopes are not high for passing an 8am inspection.

“I wouldn’t be confident,” said manager Caroline Grey yesterday. “We got two inches of snow and that has to melt and go somewhere.

“We are also being told to expect more overnight rain. We will have to wait and see.

“The snow we got was very localised to south Meath. There was nothing in Navan, for instance, or in Blanchardstown.”

The feature race on the card, for which entries stand, is the Grade Two Normans Grove Chase which is due to play host to the likes of Watson Lake, Thyne Again and Mansony.

Thyne Again’s trainer, Liam Burke, said: “The plan is to run on Tuesday as we need to go somewhere with him. If the meeting is off I really don’t know where we will go. He could run in the Hennessy, but I had wanted to run him before that. He’s in great nick so I really hope we can get him out on Tuesday.”

Cork also failed an inspection yesterday with the track found to be waterlogged after a morning inspection.
