Quinn chooses to opt out of Tyrone panel due to work commitments

Tyrone have been dealt a blow ahead of the opening round of the All Ireland qualifiers with the news that defender PJ Quinn has announced that he is opting out of the panel.

The corner back informed manager Mickey Harte of his decision earlier this week.

It is believed that he has cited work commitments as the main reason for his decision as he struggles to combine it with the rigorous training regime that is now required at the top level in county football.

Quinn started the Ulster SFC game against All Ireland champions Donegal in Ballybofey last month and while he was replaced at halftime there is no doubt that he was a key part of Tyrone's plans.

Former All Ireland winning captain, Juliet Murphy, has today announced her retirement from both intercounty and club football.

Most decorated
Murphy is one of the most decorated players ever to play the game making her last appearance for Cork last September in Croke Park where her Cork team overcame Kerry to claim their 7th All Ireland in 8 years with Juliet featuring in each of those victories.

The death has taken place of Kilkenny All-Ireland winner Pa Dillon. He joined the senior panel in 1960 and was full back on the county team between 1964 and 72, winning three All-Ireland medals, six Leinsters and three NHL titles during his career.
