Team Ireland swing straight into action on Friday at the Olympics with rowing taking centre stage before the opening ceremony in the evening.
Rowing is one of the events where Ireland will have a number of medal hopefuls and Sanita Puspure is among them. The twice European Championships and twice World Championships gold medallist takes to the water for her women's singles sculls heat at 1.40am in the Sea Forest Waterway.
After that, Philip Doyle and Ronan Byrne will compete in their heat for the men's double sculls, going off at 2.40am.
What else is on?
Aside from the rowing it’s a quiet enough day in Tokyo before the action really begins on Saturday with only archery beginning on Friday as well.
