Michelle Finn – Athletics

One of three athletes from the Leevale club to qualify for Rio, and coached by club legend Donie Walsh, Finn has been improving steadily in the few seasons since graduating from Western Kentucky University where she spent four years on scholarship. Part of the Irish women’s team that won European Cross Country bronze in 2014, she ran her Rio qualifying time last summer, but improved on that again at last month’s Europeans, clocking 9:43.19 in the final, where she finished in an impressive seventh. With a little more improvement a final spot in Rio might well be possible.
