Cycling: Richard Maes and Grace Young dominate in Thurles

Ciarán Byrne wins the A race at the Connacht Cyclocross League event

Richard Maes (All Human/VeloRevolution) and teammate Grace Young proved best in the Drombane Cross race in Thurles on Sunday, dominating the men’s and women’s races. Maes beat second-placed finisher Richard Barry (St. Finbarrs CC) by almost two minutes, while Young was over four minutes clear of Marcia Salvador (TC).

Elsewhere, Ciarán Byrne (VeloCity MTB) beat Nathan Kurensky (TWC Maaslandster) to win the A race at the Connacht Cyclocross League event at the Ballinrobe Racecourse in County Mayo. In the north, Christopher McGlinchey (Spectra Wiggle P/B Vitus) was 24 seconds clear of Dean Harvey (VC Glendale) in the GP Falling Leaves in Northlink Park in Belfast. Judith Russell (Phoenix CC) finished a lap clear in the elite women’s event.
