The final round of the Leinster senior hurling league takes place this week - although a few back-matches have yet to played - and Good Counsel can win section one if they defeat St Peter's, Wexford, on Friday.

Last week the New Ross college picked up an easy win over Dublin Colleges, although their Wexford rivals should provide the biggest test so far. In section two, title holders St Kieran's are out against Enniscorthy CBS in what should be a comfortable win for the Kilkenny college.

Their remaining game against Kilkenny CBS (postponed from earlier this month) has yet to be fixed, but that is likely to decide who wins the section. CBS have been proving much more capable this season and unlike recent years, St Kieran's won't be having it all their own way in Leinster.

The league - which merely decides the quarter-final line-ups and is not a knock-out competition - then moves straight to the final between the winners of the two sections - to be played the first week in December.

In Munster, the semi-final pairings of the senior hurling Dr Harty Cup are now decided - except that title holders St Flannan's, Ennis, must await Friday's replay between Midleton CBS and Colaiste Na Phiarsaigh before knowing their opposition.

The Ennis college had little trouble bypassing Our Lady's Templemore last Wednesday in what was a rematch of last year's provincial decider. Backboned by seven of that winning side, St Flannan's came out winners 2-14 to 1-8 and they should prove a real handful to whichever Cork team emerges.

The other semi-final will involve St Colman's and Thurles CBS. The Cork college came through their quarter-final last Wednesday with ease, beating county rivals Farranferris 1-13 to 1-7. Thurles had to work a little harder to defeat North Monastery after a disappointing game last Friday ended 1-12 to 0-7 in favour of the Tipperary college. Both of those semi-finals will be played next February 2nd.

There is also one game fixed for Friday in the Munster senior football championship - the Corn Ui Mhuiri - when the holders Tralee CBS meet St Flannan's, Ennis.
