Horan steps down as Limerick football boss after Longford defeat

Limerick football manager Maurice Horan has announced that he is to step down from the position following the round one qualifier defeat to Longford.

Horan, who was in the the job for three years, tendered his resignation to the Limerick County Board following the 11-point defeat.

The highlight of the Mayo man’s time at the helm saw Limerick make it to their first All-Ireland quarter-final in 2011, where they lost to Kerry.

He also managed the county’s under-21 side and was a selector under Mickey Ned O’Sullivan.
