Dublin’s Eoghan O’Gara has been cleared by the GAA’s Central Hearings Committee of a red card offence in the All-Ireland quarter-final with Donegal.

O'Gara, who came on as a 64th minute replacement, was sent off in injury-time for striking opposition full back Neil McGee. The 'strike' looked more like a slap and the decision by referee Ciaran Branagan caused controversy.

Thursday’s CHC meeting heard O’Gara’s case and decided that a yellow card for rough play would have been the more appropriate sanction.

He is now free to play in next weekend’s All-Ireland semi-final against Kerry.
