Date set for Brennan hearing

News: Trevor Brennan, the Toulouse and former Ireland forward, will face a disciplinary hearing on March 16th in London.

Following a meeting of the European Rugby Cup's (ERC) disciplinary committee in Dublin yesterday to consider a preliminary application by legal representatives, who sought an adjournment of the hearing, the ERC have now set a firm date for the misconduct charge to be heard.

The complaint against Brennan was made after Toulouse's European Cup match against Ulster at Stade Ernest Wallon on Sunday, January 21st.

The independent disciplinary committee, chaired by HHJ Jeff Blackett (England), who is joined by Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and Achille Reali (Italy), dismissed Brennan's application for adjournment.

The misconduct complaint, under the competition's disciplinary rules, is that the Toulouse player allegedly entered one of the seating areas of the stadium and assaulted a spectator, Patrick Bamford, during the Ulster match.

Brennan has already been suspended by the French Rugby Federation, following a letter from the International Rugby Board. Written by Ireland's Syd Millar, the letter requested that the French Federation suspend the player until March 15th.
