Cavan look set for the quarter- finals

Nothing to see here surely. Cavan would never forgive themselves if they stumbled at this venue and against a brave London team. They would forever struggle to come to terms with missing out on their first ever All-Ireland quarter-final.

As Kieran McGeeney said recently, defeat is unthinkable. Especially considering what has gone before. They have a decent batch of underage talent coming through. They have impressed with the discipline of their system when seeing off Armagh, Fermanagh (twice) and then beating Derry in Celtic Park.

The 1-10 to 0-12 Ulster semi-final defeat to Monaghan looks even more impressive this week.

London's defence was criminally sloppy in their distribution against Mayo. It ruined any chance of a competitive Connacht final.

It’s unclear if manager Paul Coggins is going to make any changes but if his attitude permeates through his players then they should be just fine.

“We did create lots of chances against Mayo. The difference was Mayo took their chances, ruthlessly.

“They are a Division One team playing at the highest level for the last number of years. They know the right thing to do and they do it. There is no messing about. They just do it.

“That’s something we have to take experience from. When you are in the heat of battle you will remember those things.

“It was disappointing. No team is going to win a game if they concede five goals but we aim to tighten up on that.”

Cavan manager Terry Hyland has named the same side that defeated Derry, with concerns about Jason McLoughlin (hamstring) and Niall McDermott (concussion).

It’s a huge occasion for all the players but particularly London free-taker and Cavan man Lorcan Mulvey

Whichever way it goes it will prove a bittersweet experience for him.
