Dublin's All Star goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton drops to the bench for Saturday evening's O'Byrne Cup quarter-final against Westmeath at Parnell Park. Manager Paul Caffrey is keen to rotate as many players as possible in the pre-season tournament, and despite Cluxton's key saves in last weekend's win over Wicklow, has handed the number one shirt to John Leonard.

There are two further changes in personnel. In defence Paul Brogan, the latest addition to the panel from the famous household, will start at left wing back for the injured Graham Norton while in the full-forward line Paul Flynn replaces Barry Kennedy.

Brogan and Flynn will be making their first competitive starts for Dublin, having made a strong show as substitutes in the win over Wicklow. Among the other big names on the bench are Alan Brogan, Bryan Cullen, Paul Casey and David Henry.

Limerick footballer manager Mickey Ned O'Sullivan has also named three debutants for his opening game of the season - Sunday's McGrath Cup quarter-final against IT Tralee. Corner back Stephen Walsh and half forwards Dermot Phelan and Tom Collins have been named in the starting line-up for the game in Feenagh.

However, new recruit Jim O'Donovan, who has linked up with the panel after two years with Lansdowne rugby club, is unavailable because of a knee injury. Newly-appointed captain Johnny Murphy will lead the team from left corner forward.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has confirmed Brian Dooher will captain the senior football team for the fourth successive season. Dooher is likely to miss the early stages of the National Football League through injury, but is still expected to figure prominently in their championship campaign.

In hurling, new Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy is without a host of players for his first competitive game against UCC in Sunday's Waterford Crystal Cup tie in Nenagh. Forwards Danny O'Hanlon (hand) and Darragh Egan (arm) and defender John Devane (ankle) are ruled out and six other players are committed to their college team - brothers Tommy and Diarmaid Fitzgerald (UCD), Alan Byrne (Limerick IT), Ryan O'Dwyer and Thomas Stapleton (University Limerick), and Conor O'Brien (Garda).

Hugh Maloney is away.

• Munster club hurling champions Loughmore-Castleiney (Tipperary) have suffered an injury blow ahead of next month's All-Ireland club semi-final against Portumna with the news Paul Brennan has been ruled out through injury.

Centre forward Brennan sat out the provincial campaign after he sustained a broken thumb in the club's county final victory against Drom & Inch.

Brennan had hoped to make it back in time for the All-Ireland semi-final but on a recent trip to Vietnam he was involved in a accident when the moped he was driving was in collision with a local taxi. Brennan badly injured his knee and is unable to train.

Diarmuid Brennan and Tommy Long will be fit for the Portumna game after missing out on their Munster success.
