ARMAGH last night appointed Paddy O’Rourke as the county’s senior football manager. O’Rourke captained Down to the 1991 All-Ireland title and managed the county earlier this decade.
His appointment to succeed Peter McDonnell comes as a surprise after a number of weeks in which the county has struggled to make the appointment.
A number of Armagh football personalities are currently involved with other counties. Former manager Joe Kernan has taken over the Galway team, former captain Kieran McGeeney is in charge at Kildare and Paul Grimley, who served as assistant to both men, has recently taken on a similar position with Monaghan.
