Sir – The emergence of the Omicron variant of concern emphasises the urgent need for global Covid-19 vaccine equity. No one is safe anywhere until everyone is safe everywhere.
The only way to make enough vaccine to vaccinate the world’s population and to stop the emergence of potentially dangerous variants is by a compulsory Trips waiver on vaccine production. Apart from loss of profit by companies that have already made billions in the pandemic (and that will continue to make vast sums of money) what is the argument against doing this?
