Sir, – At least Maeve Edwards (Letters, September 9th) has the decency to return across the road on green, having initially pressed the button and crossed on red to pick up her Irish Times. As a motorist, I have frequently seen pedestrians press the button as they step off the pavement, cross the road on red and walk off leaving me to deal with the red light at the now deserted crossing. – Yours, etc,
