The buck stops here

Sir, – I wish to draw your attention to the beautiful autumn photograph by Julien Behal of a fallow deer in the Phoenix Park, Dublin (October 31st). The caption reads “a young stag among the trees”. The male of the fallow species is always called a buck. A male red deer is always called a stag.

This error has occurred on previous occasions. – Yours, etc,

MICHAEL O’DOWD,

Dundalk,
