Madam - Keith Duggan's muddled diatribe (Sideline Cut, Sports, June 10th) makes a short pretence of being sporting analysis but soon degenerates into a thin, bitter rant against English culture and society.
As an Englishman resident in Ireland for seven years I am often embarassed by sections of the UK press that make simplistic, sweeping generalisations about an entire country, particularly during sporting occasions.
It makes my stomach sink to see the leading quality newspaper in Ireland do the same. - Yours, etc,
