Sir, - Sonia O' Sullivan's wonderful two gold medals in the European Championships were ample reward for her comeback from the awful trauma of the Atlanta Olympics and the Athens World Games. To see her father, John O'Sullivan, at the trackside once again was so heartening and all in athletics felt very proud of them.
BLE is to be congratulated on sending a team of female and male athletes which finished 11th of 22 European countries. While BLE delayed judgment on Mark Carroll's selection, he certainly proved his point by taking bronze in class company.
I hope our Government are more generous with our Lotto profits in the future, - Yours, etc.,
