As one of the trade union representatives in the introduction of the DART I can say no such restriction was placed on its growth. On introduction, the DART worked to the maximum of its then staff, schedule and operating capacity.

Contrary to Mr Kenny's anti union posture, the co-operation of the DART staff, all represented by trade unions, delivered to the public an excellent new high technology service that has been an outstanding success from the day the service began in July 1984.

The trade unions always advocated and campaigned for the development of the DART and the railways in general. Of course, it suits people to overlook this. - Yours, etc.,
