Madam, - Sinn Féin has pocketed obvious concessions in the North. It is adding new demands in the Republic for a Northern voice in the Dáil and for freedom of criminals, through its mandate is based on a tiny, 10 per cent vote.

What have the Irish people gained? Not a gun has been reported destroyed; not a bludgeon, knife or stolen bank note surrendered. Has "laundering" of petrol or money ceased?

The ceasefire occurred only when it ceased to be profitable, due to world reaction to explosions in New York and London. There is no co-operation with the policing of murder or other criminal cases. The IRA organisation is unchanged, though some resignations have been reported.
