Sir, – I would like to share and acknowledge a recent experience of a stranger’s honesty and kindness. I bought a car recently and only had it about a week when Storm Abigail descended upon us.
I had parked the car in a public area and when I returned to it, there were a couple of gouges out of the driver’s side door. I then noticed a note on the windscreen with a name and mobile number.
I phoned the number and the gentleman explained that a gust of wind had blown his door and it had hit my car before he had a chance to stop it. He asked me to send him an estimate for the repairs, which I did (over €700), and I received a cheque in the post a couple of days later.
This man could simply have driven away, but he didn’t. It’s wonderful to know that human honestly and decency still exists in the world. So an enormous thank you to Gary – you are truly a gentleman. – Yours, etc,
NORA KAVANAGH,
