Dublin Bus and accessibility

Sir, – I use Dublin Bus on a regular basis and rely on the announcements as to the location of the next stop, especially when venturing to new locations. I imagine I am not unique in this. Yesterday, I boarded a new livery 46A bus to find that this facility was not on this bus.

The bus driver informed me that not all buses had this facility. From an accessibility standpoint for those who are visually impaired, this is a significant absence. Tourists visiting Ireland would also find this facility extremely beneficial.

It is evident that accessibility matters are not a core consideration in Dublin Bus’s planning. – Yours, etc,

SANDRA NÍ DHUBHDA,
