Sir, – Whenever someone stands up for the rights of the people of Palestine under Israeli occupation, Israeli supporters invariably ask, why are you picking on us? (Letters, November 11th)
Why, they ask, don’t Palestinian sympathisers support Uighurs in China or Armenians in Turkey? The simple answer is that they stand up for justice and equality in all nations.
Other international movements have been established to do likewise for Uighurs and Armenians, none of which are mutually exclusive and co-operate on joint projects from time to time.
The longing for justice and equality is universal and I would suggest that the suspicions of Mr Williams are ill-founded.
