Sir, – As a regular walker and a sometime cyclist I make a special plea to cyclists.
Please have a bell on your bike and use it to alert walkers who may not be aware that you are about to overtake them.
It is my experience that cyclists in Dublin have an aversion to using the bell as a warning. Cyclists in Amsterdam or Berlin have no such inhibitions.
