Sir, – At Christmas, I took an American visitor across the potholed roads of Wicklow. We came across one stretch that was marked with warning signs advising that it was a “temporary road”. This stretch was newly paved and smooth. My friend asked if all good roads in Ireland were just “temporary”? Why do I feel an election is just around the corner? – Yours, etc,
