Sir, – The Sinn Féin president, Mary Lou McDonald, complains about “the reluctance of the Free State [sic] establishment” to move on from holding her party accountable for the actions of the Provisional IRA during the Troubles (“McDonald says Sinn Féin should not have to answer for IRA any more”, News, November 14th).
Sinn Féin, however, has not moved on from valorising those actions.
Until that happens, the rest of us will not – and should not – move on from holding the party accountable for them. – Yours, etc,
