Sir, – You report that when the Luas Green Line was extended to Broombridge in 2017, it was designed to be further extended to Finglas. You also report that it is hoped that the extra 4km will now be completed by 2031 (News, October 21st).
Fourteen years to service the transport needs of a population of 60,000 seems exceptionally long when one considers that the Dublin United Tramway Company extended an electrified tramway system to Whitehall in 1903, fully 20 years before any major housing development had occurred in Upper Drumcondra. – Yours, etc,
