Sir, – On a winding road in the Burren there it was, a 100km/h sign and drivers whizzing by, tearing round blind corners never wondering might there be a car, cyclist, pedestrian approaching or even going in the same direction. You can get from Dublin to Galway on the motorway, but after that you are on narrow roads mixing with commuters who know every bend and who want to get to their destination as quickly as possible.
It’s mixing the modern car – more powerful and wider than the even 10 years ago – with our ancient, resurfaced but still narrow roads at speeds of 100 km/h that is so dangerous.
What are the Road Safety Authority and the county councils doing to stop the carnage? – Yours, etc,
