Sir, – Rather than renaming the Berkeley Library after some famous academic or writer, why not honour one of the workers behind the scenes whose patient, meticulous work allows the library to function?
David Lass, for example, was a cataloguer in the Berkeley from 1973 to 2004. In addition, he was an indefatigable campaigner against smoking on public transport and Dublin Bus’s archives have voluminous files of correspondence to prove it. Perhaps the fact that he was also a regular letter writer to The Irish Times might be held against him but no one is perfect. – Yours, etc,

Ann Ingle: Deliberately going out of my way to move for no particular reason has never appealed to me
Gerry Thornley: How about an alternative look at Ireland’s Six Nations win over England?
Is Ireland anti-Semitic, an outlier of tolerance or in the middle ground?
How risky is it to buy a second-hand EV?

Sir, – Given the song and dance about the renaming of the library at Trinity, may I suggest “The Busby Berkeley Library”? – Yours, etc,
