Sir, – Further to recent correspondence (Letters, August 10th), many years ago what was the Ormonde Cinema in Stillorgan in Dublin always had an intermission regardless of the length of the “picture”.
During the break they held a raffle. Your entrance ticket was also the raffle ticket. I once won a plastic world globe!
Oh, the excitement! – Yours, etc,
LAURA O’MARA,
Stillorgan,
Co Dublin.
Sir, – Paul Walsh would like cinemas to reintroduce the intermission for lengthy films to enable patrons to consume refreshments and presumably food (Letters, August 10th).
I couldn’t disagree more. Noisily munching food and slurping drinks is an abhorrent habit and must be discouraged and indeed banned from our theatres and cinemas. – Yours, etc,
PATRICK O’BYRNE,
Phibsborough,
Dublin 7.
