Sir, – I refer to a recent article by Jade Wilson (“Ireland could face ‘tsunami’ of incidents involving e-scooters, AA Ireland says”, News, June 12th).
I have had a few “whoosh-by” experiences with both e-scooters and bikes on the footpaths in this town. Pedestrians are no longer secure anywhere on footpaths, as both e-scooter riders and cyclists are permitted everywhere.
I do wish the Government, which insisted on “cocooning” older people during the pandemic, would provide safe walking opportunities now. We need to walk to keep active and out of hospital, but in doing so we may end up in hospital or dead on the footpath. – Yours, etc,
LIZ DOYLE,
