Sir, – “Eviction” is a very emotive term and suggests heartless landlords dumping people on the street on a whim.
I own a four-bed house in Limerick, with current rent €1,100 a month, after the recent ECB increases my mortgage is €1,525 a month, after management charges and income tax (yes, there is tax on the rent even if it’s less than the mortgage payments). I run a loss of €1,050 per month. My only option is to sell and to do that I need to “evict” the tenants.
I’ve offered it to Limerick Council, but it is not interested.
