Sir, – Last Saturday I attended the matinée of Frank McGuinness’s adaptation of Tartuffe in the Abbey Theatre.
I was early for the performance so decided to have a cup of tea at the bar upstairs. Shock awaited me when I noticed a framed A4 page with two cocktails being promoted on the bar. One was called “Pornstar Martini”. I enquired from the barmaid what this was about and she told me that the Abbey were now selling cocktails. Of all the cocktails in the world, why is our National Theatre promoting a cocktail with such a name that utterly objectifies women? Awaken the feminists again, please. – Yours, etc,
