Sir, – Much has been made of the recent opening of the new Dún Laoghaire baths project. Celebrated by council and local politicians aloud but there’s a lot of disappointment from the local disability community. Not only is the much-needed changing places toilet facility not open right now but wheelchair users find themselves excluded from parts of the development due to the long, steep ramps and and restricted viewing. Despite the long delay in opening and the massive overspend, it’s a shame that wheelchair users and their carers cannot access the full facility.
We are told we will get to enjoy the full facilities once phase two had been completed. Whenever that may be!
It’s simply not acceptable in 2023.– Yours, etc,
