Sir, – You are to be congratulated for establishing that just 71 fixed-charge notices have been issued since a new road traffic law was introduced in 2019 (“Cyclists criticise low rate of fines for endangerment”, News, December 15th).
With the publication of World Cup tables coming to an end, might there be space in your newspaper for ones showing the number of drivers fined for overtaking cyclists dangerously, the number of pedallers penalised for ignoring traffic lights and how many pedestrians have been brought to book for jaywalking. – Yours, etc,
PAUL REARDON,
Dublin 9.
