Reporter leaves for Uruguay saying his life was in danger

The first journalist to report on the death of an Argentine state prosecutor, who was investigating the deadly 1994 bombing of a Jewish community centre in Buenos Aires, said yesterday he had fled Argentina fearing for his life.

"I'm leaving because my life is in danger. My phones are tapped," Damian Pachter, a journalist with the Buenos Aires Herald, told the website Infobae before boarding a flightfor neighbouring Uruguay.

State prosecutor Alberto Nisman was found dead in his apartment late on January 18th, a gunshot wound to his head and a pistol and single shell-casing by his side. – (Reuters)
